This simple application should get you started. It uses a predefined list of common colors and finds the closest match using a basic color distance algorithm.
It's a great way to get a recognised name for any hex code, RGBA or Pantone colour you're working with:
NB: Pantone is a proprietary color matching system, not a simple mathematical formula. Our tool's database only contains a small, hardcoded list of a few well-known Pantones. Because of this, when you enter a Hex or RGB code, it's very unlikely to perfectly match one of the few Pantones in the list.
Disclaimer: This color naming tool is intended for informational and creative purposes only. While it aims to provide the closest known color name based on a predefined list, we do not guarantee the accuracy of the names or the exact matching of codes. The results should not be used as a definitive or authoritative source for color identification.
